Phil
After getting a foot in the door in early 2002, Phil took that foot (and his other one), and began travelling abroad, working in numerous tattoo studios in various countries, some of which include the U.K, Europe, Malaysia, Singapore, the U.S.A and of course Australia.
Phil feels that learning to tattoo whilst travelling, thus being exposed to such a vast array of different cultures, styles and techniques, and working with so many renowned artists, has helped him develop more than if he simply stayed in one place.
Upon returning to Perth, Phil felt ready to open a studio of his own, and Holdfast Tattoo was born!
Influenced mainly by cultural (Tribal), Japanese and traditional American styles. Phil is only too happy to tattoo most styles, and strives to meet all his customers needs and wishes.
Suzi
Beginning her tattoo career in North Carolina in 2001 with an apprenticeship at Lucky Lady Tattoo Studio, Suzi has since travelled and worked at studios and tattoo conventions across America, in Europe and New Zealand. Originally from South Wales in the U.K, Suzi immigrated to Australia in 2004 and settled in Perth. She has been a resident artist at Holdfast since early 2007.
Suzi Q has been fortunate to see her tattoo art published in many national and international tattoo magazines and has an easily recognisable style incorperating a mix of old and new school. Probably best known for her colour work, Suzi is also happy to undertake other styles, and works with her clients to design tattoos that are custom made to suit each individual.
Suzi takes inspiration from her love of 50's and 60's Kitsch, rockabilly/psychobilly music, traditional American tattoo designs, classic cars/hot rods, pin-up girls, anything vegas and zombie movies.
